If you need a machine that operates fully automatically with minimal setup, this model meets those needs. The compact size makes it ideal for mobile living.
Who should skip it
Skip this unit if you need a high-capacity machine for large families. The 17.7 lbs limit may feel small for heavy weekly loads. Key specs explained
Capacity: 17.7 lbs
This rating indicates the maximum dry weight of laundry the drum can hold in a single cycle. A 17.7 lbs limit allows you to wash larger loads than smaller portable units, making it practical for families of three or four people. It balances capacity with the compact footprint needed for dorms or RVs, ensuring you do not overload the motor during spin cycles.
Drain Pump
The inclusion of a drain pump means the machine actively pushes wastewater out through a hose. You can connect the drain line to a sink, bathtub, or floor drain without needing to manually lift and pour the heavy water tub. This feature simplifies the cleanup process and is essential for installation in apartments or RVs where gravity drainage is not always feasible or convenient.
10 Wash Programs
This unit offers ten distinct cycle settings on its control panel, allowing you to select specific modes for different fabric types or soil levels. Instead of a single generic wash, you can choose options tailored for delicates, heavy soils, or quick refreshes. This variety helps protect delicate garments while ensuring heavily soiled items receive adequate agitation and cleaning time during the cycle.
8 Water Levels
With eight selectable water level options, you can adjust the fill volume to match the size of your laundry load. This precision prevents wasting water on small loads while ensuring larger loads are fully submerged for effective cleaning. It gives you control over water usage and rinse efficiency, which is a practical advantage when you are managing limited water resources in a dorm or travel setting.
Fully Automatic
This operation type means the machine handles the entire washing sequence, including wash, rinse, and spin, without manual intervention. You simply add detergent, select the cycle, and start the unit. It eliminates the need to manually transfer clothes between tubs or agitate them by hand, saving you time and physical effort while ensuring consistent results for everyday laundry tasks.
Design and Build Specs
The F.W.WOOLWORTHS portable washer measures 20 inches wide by 20 inches deep and stands 34 inches tall. The listing identifies the finish as gold. This compact footprint allows it to fit into tight spaces such as dorm rooms, small apartments, or RV storage areas. The unit is described as lightweight, which supports easy transport. You can move it for camping trips or simply reposition it within your living space without needing heavy lifting assistance.
According to the listing, the control panel features a multi-functional layout. It includes ten distinct wash programs and four water level modes. There are also eight specific water level selections available for adjustment. The interface is designed to be clear, allowing you to set cycles and water levels without confusion. This fully automatic operation means you do not need to babysit the machine during a cycle. The system handles the wash and spin processes independently.
A key structural feature is the built-in drain pump. This component allows you to remove water directly from the machine rather than relying on gravity drainage. This design choice enhances mobility, as you are not restricted by the location of a floor drain. The unit also includes an automatic imbalance adjustment mechanism. This system detects tub imbalance during operation and corrects it automatically. This feature helps reduce vibration and noise, ensuring safer and quieter performance compared to units without this capability.
Setup And Daily Use Guide
Setting up this portable washer involves connecting the water inlet and attaching the drain hose to the included drain pump. The pump allows you to remove wastewater without manually tilting the unit, which simplifies the process in tight spaces like dorms or RVs. You place the machine on a flat, stable surface to ensure the automatic imbalance adjustment mechanism works correctly. This feature detects uneven loads during the spin cycle and adjusts the drum to reduce vibration and noise, protecting the motor and your floors.
Daily operation is handled by the fully automatic control panel. You select one of the ten wash programs based on your fabric needs. Next, you choose from four water level modes, which correspond to eight specific water level selections. This granularity helps you use the right amount of water for each load size, up to the 17.7 lbs capacity. Once you set the cycle and water level, the machine runs without requiring further input. It washes, rinses, and spins automatically. This hands-off approach lets you multitask while the laundry completes. The lightweight design and compact 20 by 20 inch footprint make it easy to move between rooms or pack for travel. You simply roll or carry it to your desired location, connect the hoses, and start a cycle. The clear labeling on the control panel ensures you can operate the machine without confusion, making it a practical choice for busy households or small living spaces.
What To Check Before Buying
Before you buy this F.W.WOOLWORTHS unit, verify your water supply connections. You need a standard faucet adapter for the inlet hose and a nearby drain for the pump output. Ensure your electrical outlet is grounded and accessible. The 17.7 lbs capacity suits small families or couples, but it is not for bulky items like comforters. Check the 20 by 20 inch footprint against your laundry space. This model competes with other portable washers by offering a drain pump and automatic imbalance adjustment. Unlike manual units, it handles water removal for you. However, it still requires manual water filling. Consider if you need higher capacity or built-in heating. This machine fits well in dorms, RVs, or apartments where space is tight. It is a practical choice for those who want automatic cycles without the bulk of a full-size washer. Keep the drain pump clear of debris to maintain performance.

- Verify faucet adapter compatibility with your home water supply.
- Ensure a nearby drain exists for the included pump.
- Confirm the 20x20 inch footprint fits your designated space.
