Who it fits
Good fit for
You will like this washer if you live in an apartment, dorm, or RV with limited floor space. The 20-inch by 20-inch footprint allows it to fit in small closets or corners. The 17.7 lb capacity is ideal for singles or couples who do laundry frequently but in smaller batches. The 10 wash programs provide enough variety for everyday clothes, delicates, and heavy items. The quiet 60 dB operation ensures it does not disturb roommates or neighbors during late-night cycles.
Who should skip it
You should skip this model if you need to wash large bedding sets or heavy towels regularly. The 17.7 lb limit may be too small for families with high laundry volumes. While it handles one set of bedding, larger comforters will not fit. If you require a separate dryer unit, this machine only washes and spins. You must manually transfer clothes to a separate dryer. The fixed height options do not include extra-tall models for specific cabinet fits.
Verdict: This portable washer is a practical choice for small spaces and moderate laundry loads. Its compact size and full-automatic features make it easy to use in tight quarters.
Key specs explained for you
Capacity: 17.7 lbs
This limit defines the maximum dry weight of laundry the drum can hold. You can wash up to 22 T-shirts or one bedding set in a single cycle. This size suits small households or individuals who wash frequently. It avoids overloading the motor. Larger units hold more but take up more floor space. Choose this capacity if you prioritize speed and compact storage over bulk washing.
Tub Material: Stainless steel
The inner drum is made of stainless steel. This material resists rust and corrosion better than plastic. It provides a smooth surface that reduces fabric wear over time. You get consistent cleaning performance even after many cycles. Stainless steel is easier to keep hygienic. This feature is common in higher-end machines. It ensures durability for daily use in apartments or dorms without degrading quickly.
Wash Programs: 10
The machine offers ten distinct cycles, including Standard, Quick, Heavy, and Spin Only. You can select the exact mode for your fabric type. Delicates get gentle care, while heavy items get vigorous cleaning. This variety replaces the need for multiple machines. You save water and energy by matching the cycle to the load. Check if your specific needs, like wool or air dry, are covered by these ten options.
Water Levels: 4
You can adjust the water fill to four different levels. This allows you to use less water for small loads. It ensures clothes are fully submerged without wasting resources. Proper water levels improve cleaning efficiency. You avoid washing clothes in too much or too little water. This control helps maintain fabric integrity. Compare this to machines with fixed levels. Adjustable levels offer better versatility for varying load sizes.
Operation Type: Full-automatic
The machine handles washing, rinsing, and spinning without manual intervention. You load the clothes and start the cycle. The unit manages water intake and drainage automatically. This saves time and effort compared to semi-automatic models. You do not need to move clothes between tubs. It is ideal for busy schedules. Ensure you have a nearby drain and water source for seamless automatic operation.
Design and Build Quality
The Borcolo portable washer measures 20 inches deep, 20 inches wide, and 34 inches high. The listing states it arrives pre-assembled, so you can place it in your apartment, dorm, or RV without waiting for setup. This compact footprint allows the unit to fit into tight corners where larger machines cannot go. The outer shell is available in grey, silver, off-white, and other finishes, allowing you to match your existing decor. The model number is XQB201A-GREY6.
Inside, the drum is made of stainless steel. According to the listing, this material provides durability while gently cleaning fibers from delicate fabrics to heavy-duty work clothes. The stainless steel tub helps resist rust and corrosion in humid environments. The machine operates at a noise level of 60 dB. It also features an automatic imbalance correction system that minimizes shaking during spin cycles. This quiet operation makes it suitable for shared living spaces where noise matters.
You control the wash via an LED display that shows remaining time. There are ten wash programs and four water level settings. A child lock is included for safety. The layout is straightforward, with controls positioned for easy access. You do not need to connect an app or use a remote to operate it. The design prioritizes simple, reliable functionality for users who need a compact, full-automatic solution for small loads.
Setup and Daily Operation Guide
The Borcolo portable washer arrives pre-assembled, which simplifies your initial setup. You simply place the unit in your desired location, such as a bathroom, balcony, or utility corner. Because it measures 20 inches deep, 20 inches wide, and 34 inches high, you must ensure the surrounding area allows for adequate ventilation and hose connection. The compact footprint is designed to fit easily in apartments, dorm rooms, or RVs without consuming excessive floor space.
Daily use is managed through a fully automatic control panel. You select from ten distinct wash programs, including Standard, Quick, Heavy, Soft, Soak, Spin Only, Tub Clean, and Air Dry. This variety allows you to match the cycle to your specific laundry needs. You also adjust four water level settings to optimize water usage based on load size. An LED display provides clear feedback, showing the remaining time for each cycle so you can plan your day accordingly.
Operation is designed to be quiet, with a noise level of 60 dB. This makes it suitable for shared living spaces where noise might be a concern. The machine features an automatic imbalance correction system that minimizes shaking and vibration during the spin cycle. This stability protects your floors and reduces movement. The stainless steel inner tub handles the cleaning process, while the foam wash system creates a buffer to reduce fabric friction. A child lock feature is included to ensure safe operation if children are present in the home.
Before You Buy This Washer
You will need a standard household electrical outlet and a nearby sink or hose for water connections. This model does not include an internal water tank, so you must connect it directly to your home plumbing. Check that your space allows for the 20 by 20 by 34 inch footprint. Ensure your floor is level to support the automatic imbalance correction system effectively. Regular maintenance involves running the Tub Clean program monthly to prevent buildup. You should also inspect the inlet hose for kinks before each use. This unit fits well among other portable washers for those prioritizing full-automatic convenience in small spaces. It suits renters and students who need a quiet, 60 dB operation. However, if you require a self-contained unit without external plumbing, this may not be the right choice. Compare its 17.7 lb capacity against larger models if you have more laundry volume. Always verify your local water pressure meets the requirements for optimal spin performance.
Check before you buy
- Verify access to a standard electrical outlet and water hookups.
- Measure your space to ensure the 20 by 20 by 34 inch footprint fits.
